The Selkie Handwoven Blanket

  • The Selkie is a one-off throw handwoven by Imogen Di Sapia on the South coast of England, forming part of a beautifully tactile and opulent collection of organically handwoven pieces made using ethical yarns. The fibres are all hand blended, hand spun and woven in the UK, using ethical wool from a flock of rescue sheep, British alpaca, wild silk, nettle and linen, and introducing new fibres including seaweed silk, soy, and rose.

  • Fibres used - Biodynamic North Ronaldsay warp in warm greys. Hand-spun ethical South Downs wool, wild silk, seaweed silk, Haunui, Teeswater locks, antique silver thread, avocado dye, black bean dye, blackberry dye. Rich deep warm greys, golden lustre strands, deep chocolate brown strands, wild locks and texture, heavy, warm, draping.

The colour palette of warm stone-purple greys and soft shell-peach nudes in this collection are highlighted with the metallic golden lustre of wild silk and highly textured matte wool in soft, custom-blended yarns.

Bright Moon Yarn is ethical and traceable, using the wonderful natural resource of South Down Wool and Romney Marsh Fleece from Sheep Ahoy Animal Rescue in Kent, UK. Once sheared, the fleece is then processed in Cornwall by The Natural Fibre Company. This beautiful local fleece creates the base for all blended skeins used in Imogen's textiles, and additional fibre blends such as wild silk and linen are sourced to meet the highest standards of environmentalism, animal welfare and sustainability.
