The Wild Rose Weaving Collection offers rest, beauty and cocooning. Each piece was made under my year long working title ‘Weavings for transformation, a homage to change’. Slow crafted textiles not only offer us warmth, comfort and holding but also a connection to the natural world and our ancestors through the ancient craft processes involved. I believe that living in deep relationship to the earth and the elements around us is more vital than ever as a means to bring enhanced peace, clarity and belonging into our lives. The Collection comprises a variety of British local wool, such as Shetland fleece from the holistically grazed flock at Embercombe in Devon, alongside organic cottons, wild harvested silks and sustainably sourced linens. Whilst each piece is entirely unique, they were formed as a collective response to the wonders of Spring and the landscapes, plants, animals and energies that awaken at this magical time within the wheel of the year.
Rooted in sustainability, authenticity and wild creativity, Rosemary (Rose) Riedel O’Brien is a 21 year old Artist Maker living on the western edge of Dartmoor, Devon. In 2019 she completed a 6 month hand spinning and weaving apprenticeship with Imogen Di Sapia at Bright Moon Weaving Studio, Brighton. She has been developing her relationship to textiles and how they shape our identity for over 3 years now.
